Centre allots Rs.60,000 Cr to Interlink Rivers in Maharashtra

 

Union Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that the government will provide Rs.60000 Crores to Maharashtra in next two years for river linking and irrigation projects to tackle the recurring water crisis.  The four projects include the interlinking of Damanganga-Godavari, Damanganga-Vaitarna-Godavari, Par-Godavari and Nar-Par-Girna rivers. These river linking projects will help tackle the water scarcity in Marathwada and Northern Maharashtra. Two major river-linking projects in the state Par-Tapi-Narmada and Damanganga-Pinjal  will begin soon.
