PV Sindhu wins Korea Open title


India’s P V Sindhu has lifted the women’s singles title at the Korea Open Super Series badminton tournament. In a thrilling summit clash at Seoul, the Rio Olympics Silver medallist defeated Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in three sets 22-20, 11-21, 20-18. World no. 4 Sindhu had clinched the 2016 China Super Series Premier and India Super Series and Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold this season. Sindhu’s win also dashed World No. 7 Okuhara’s bid to win her third straight title after winning the Australian Open and the World Championship. 22-year old Sindhu is now level in head-to-head record against Okuhara, making it 4-4 in eight meetings between them. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Badminton Player P.V. Sindhu on winning Korea Open Super Series title. In his message, the Prime Minister said, India is immensely proud of her accomplishment.
