Union Textiles Minister inaugurates IHGF – Delhi Fair Autumn 2017

After inaugurating IHGF – Delhi Fair Autumn 2017, world’s largest handicrafts and gifts fair, the Union Textiles Minister Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani has urged the exporting fraternity to take care of the welfare of artisans who are the backbone of the sector. The fair is being held at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, during October 12 – 16, 2017.

The Minister applauded the role of Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts in promoting exports of handicrafts.  She noted that handicraft exports have witnessed a year-on-year growth of 13.15% in 2016-17 and has touched Rs. 24,392 crores. The Minister appreciated the launch of schemes by EPCH under their CSR programme, for education of children of artisans.  The scheme provides full support to education of children of artisans through open schools. 75% of the expenditure will be borne by EPCH and 25% by member exporters.

The Minister appreciated the introduction of “Design Register” scheme by EPCH, which allows hassle-free registration of designs by member exporters.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by a large number of overseas buyers. About 2,980 exhibitors of home, lifestyle, fashion, textiles and furniture are participating in the IHGF Delhi Fair.  Over 6,000 buyers from 110 countries are visiting the fair.  The special attractions of this fair include designers’ forum and recycled products.

 

BEML Showcases its Technological Prowess at IREE-2017

Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML),a Public Sector Company under the Ministry of Defence and the premier manufacturer of rail products, is participating in the three day International Railway Equipment Exhibition-2017 (IREE-2017) being held at PragatiMaidan, New Delhi from 11 – 13 October, 2017.IREE is India’s largest international event for the Railway Sector.

BEML is the Nation’s first Rail coach manufacturing Company. Rail products manufactured by the Company for Indian Railways include Overhead Inspection Car, Postal Vans, AC/DC Electric Multiple Units, Stainless Steel EMUs, Utility vehicle, Track Laying Equipment Board Gauge Railbus, Treasury Vans, Spoil Disposal Unit etc.

It is the only Indian Company manufacturing State-of-the-Art Metro Cars and holds the Market share of about 50% in Metro segment competing with Global Players and is the sole supplier to Bangalore and Jaipur Metro Corporations. BEML has bagged orders for Supply of Metro Cars to Kolkata Metro, Intermediate Cars to Bangalore Metro and EMUs for Indian railways.

BEML stall has been inaugurated by Director (Rail & Metro) Shri Aniruddh Kumar. BEML is showcasing its various rail & metro products through bromides and miniatures.

 

NBFC bad loans rise to 5% in 5 years: RBI

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has said that the Non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), key players in the financial spectrum, have witnessed a steady deterioration in asset quality in the past five years. Gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio for NBFCs increased to five per cent at end-March 2017 from 2.9 per cent at end-March 2012.

In absolute terms, bad loans of NBFCs work out to around Rs 74,230 crore as the advances by the sector were Rs 14.84 lakh crore. On the other hand, the NPA ratio of banks increased to 10.21 per cent in June 2017 from 8.42 per cent in June 2016.

 

Launch of Mobile Health App `MedWatch’ By the Indian Air Force

On the occasion of its 85th anniversary, the Indian Air Force has launched an innovative mobile health App named `MedWatch’ in keeping with the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Digital India’. The concept and content of the App is by the Directorate General of Medical Services (Air) and it has been developed in-house with zero financial outlay by the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT).

‘MedWatch’, available on the IAF’s AFCEL network, comprises a host of features that will provide authentic health information to all IAF personnel. A Reminder Tool to enable timely immunization for the children of all Air Warriors is an important component of the App. This will directly enable ‘Mission Indradhanush’ of the Govt of India.

‘MedWatch’, the first mobile health app in the three Armed Services, was launched by Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa PVSM AVSM YSM VM ADC, Chief of the Air Staff, during the Air Force Commanders’ Conference at New Delhi on 11 Oct 17.
