Mahindra launches Prerna project for women farmers

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched a programme, Prerna, to empower women working in the agriculture sector by promoting efficient and ergonomic farm tools and equipment.

The project will be initially launched in the state of Odisha, with the intention to positively impact the lives of over 1,500 families across 30-plus villages. The first project under Prerna is a collaboration between Mahindra & Mahindra, the Central Institution for Women in Agriculture (CIWA), a department of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and the NGO Pradan (Professional Assistance for Development Action).

There are 100 million women and many of them work long hours in the fields, often with tools and equipment not suited for women. The first project under Prerna aims to address these issues with the promotion of women friendly, efficient and ergonomic farm tools and equipment.

 

Varun Dhawan to get a wax statue at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong

Varun Dhawan has become one of the Bollywood celebrities to get his wax statue at the Madame Tussauds.  He is the second Bollywood actor after the legendary Amitabh Bachchan to get a wax statue at Madame Tussauds.

Varun Dhawan’s first ever wax figure will be the fourth from India to join Madame Tussauds with those of Mahatma Gandhi, Narendra Modi and Amitabh Bachchan currently on display. He will unveil it in the first quarter of 2018.

A group of skilled Madame Tussauds sculpting team took more than 200 measurements of Varun Dhawan and also matched the hair and eye colour of the actor.

 

Union Home Minister inaugurates West Zone Regional Training Centre of IB in Jodhpur

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the West Zone Regional Training Centre of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The purpose of the training centre is to strengthen and professionally empower the State Police Special Branches. The West Zone will include states of Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.

While inaugurating the centre, the Union Home Minister expressed belief that this training centre will play an important role in enhancing the professional and behavioral skills of the police officers posted in west region. He said that intelligence plays an important role in the effective execution of internal security system of the country.

 

Punjab police launches foot patrolling in all districts

In a bid to check criminal activities in the state, Punjab police has launched an initiative whereby police personnel will patrol designated areas on foot to keep a watch on anti-social elements. The initiative would ensure safety and security of women, children and senior citizens, and also build a bridge for people-friendly policing.

Foot patrolling involves beat patrolling on foot in a designated area which will be identified on the basis of criminal incidences, vulnerability, footfall in markets, strategic installations, educational, financial and religious institutions. It will also involve intelligence gathering and detection of crime.
