Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P, AVSM VSM assumes charge as the Vice Chief of Naval Staff

Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P, AVSM, VSM has assumed charge as the Vice Chief of Naval Staff from Vice Admiral Karambir Singh AVSM at a formal ceremony held this morning at South Block, New Delhi. Vice Admiral Karambir Singh proceeds to Visakhapatnam and is scheduled to take over as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Naval Command on 31 Oct 17.

Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P, AVSM, VSM is an alumni of the National Defence Academy. The Flag Officer was commissioned in the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 81 and is a specialist in Missiles & Gunnery. The Flag Officer has had extensive operational tenures onboard frontline warships of the Indian Navy. He has had the distinction of having commanded six seagoing platforms which include the guided missile corvette Kulish (commissioning), the guided missile frigate Talwar, the guided missile destroyers Mumbai and Mysore. The officer has done the Naval Higher Command Course and is also an alumni of the Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, USA.

Y C Modi takes charge as DG NIA

Yogesh Chander Modi, who was part of a Supreme Court-appointed team that probed the 2002 Gujarat riots cases, took over as NIA chief. Modi is a 1984 batch IPS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre. He will hold the post till his superannuation on May 31, 2021.

Modi takes over the NIA at a time when it is probing the funding of separatists and stone-pelters in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistan-based terrorist groups.

 

Global meet on Indian space industry in November

Indian Space Research Organisation and trade body FICCI are organising an International Seminar on Indian Space Programme to improve interaction with the industry. The two-day international seminar focusing on the opportunities in the Indian space industry will be held in New Delhi from November 21.

The objective of the seminar is to bring together the industries working on space technology and the space agencies from across the world to discuss on the trends and opportunities in the Indian space sector.

 

Union Minister Piyush Goyal & Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das inaugurate 3 day Jharkhand Mining Show

The ‘Global Mining and Mineral Summit’, called Mining Show 2017, has been inaugurated by Union Minister for Railway and Coal, Piyush Goel and Chief Minister of Jharkhand Raghubar Das. Many industries’ representatives from public and private sectors are taking part in the Show.

Speaking on this occasion, Union Minister Piyush Goel said that Jharkhand provides nine percent of the total mineral resources of the country. He said that Railway has increased the investment in the state by four times. He said in 2017-18, Railway will be investing 3850 crore rupees in Jharkhand.

During this three-days show auctioning of 23 mines are to take place. The show is being jointly organised by the government of Jharkhand and Confederation of Indian Industries -CII.
