Surat gets Best City Bus Services Award of Government of India for attracting 87% of private vehicles and auto rickshaw users

Surat Municipal Corporation has been chosen for the ‘Best City Bus Services Award’ by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for succeeding in attracting 87% of the private vehicle and auto rickshaw users to use city buses. Mysuru’s Public Bicycle Sharing has won the ‘Best Non-Motorised Transport’ Award while Kochi (Kerala) has been chosen for the ‘Best Urban Transport Initiative’ Award for completing its Metro Rail Project in a quick time besides integrating the metro with other modes of transport.

The Awards for the ‘Best Urban Transport Practices’ were announced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on the concluding day of the three day Urban Mobility Conference –cum-Exhibition at Hyderabad.

H-TRIMS of Hyderabad, the Traffic Integraged Management initiative has been chosen for the ‘Commendable Initiative Award’ under ‘Best Intelligent Transport Project’ category. Chittor has been chosen for the ‘Commendable Initiative Award’ for the city police’s initiative for improving road safety.

Bhopal: Commendable Initiative for introducing Public Bicycle Sharing

Lucknow Metro Rail Project: Commendable Urban Mass Transit Initiative

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs announces these awards to promote Best Practices in Urban Transport and are presented at the annual Urban Mobility India Conference.

 

Three-day mega food fair attracts investment worth 19 billion dollars

Investment of around 19 billion dollars were committed during the three day mega food event- World Food India which concluded yesterday. The event achieved a resounding success and saw participation from 60 countries and over 50 global CEOs.

The conference witnessed participation of 10 thousand participants and over 8 thousand business to business and business to government meetings were held. 50 MoUs were signed worth 11.25 billion dollar to boost food processing levels.

Of which, about 2.5 billion dollar worth of MoUs have been signed between state governments and stakeholders. The US, UAE, Germany, Netherlands and France have announced big amount of investments in the country’s food processing sector.

 

Javadekar envisages Operation Digital Blackboard in every school

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar has envisaged Operation Digital Blackboard in every school in the next few years. Addressing a two day National Workshop on School Education in New Delhi, Mr Javadekar said, the workshop will focus on the five themes of Digital Education, Physical Education, Value Education, Life Skills Education and Experiential Learning.

He said this is first of its kind National workshop by HRD Ministry, which brings together key stakeholders from NGOs, private sector and individuals to debate key education sector. On the occasion, Mr Javadekar also launched State-NGO-CSR portal and compendium on innovations and best practices in school education.
