India’s Second Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) Established at Anna University, Chennai

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has signed an Institutional agreement with Anna University to establish India’s second Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) at the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights (CIPR), Anna University, Chennai, under the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) TISC program.

WIPO’s Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) program provides innovators in developing countries with access to locally based, high quality technology information and related services, helping them to exploit their innovative potential and to create, protect, and manage their Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs).

The objective of the TISC is to stimulate a dynamic, vibrant and balanced Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) system in India to foster creativity and innovation, thereby promoting entrepreneurship and enhancing social, economic and cultural development by establishing a network of TISCs in India. Over 500 TISCs operate worldwide and establishing a TISC in India will give the host institutions access to the global network. TISC will give an impetus to knowledge sharing, sharing of best practices among the TISCs, capacity building, generation and commercialization of Intellectual Properties.

 

Price Stabilization Fund Management Committee decides to import onions through govt agency to moderate prices

Consumer Affairs Ministry led-Price Stabilization Fund Management Committee has decided to import onions through government agency to augment the availability of onions in market and moderate prices. The decision was taken at a meeting in New Delhi headed by Consumer Affairs Secretary, Shri Avinash K Srivastava.

Further, it was also decided that NAFED and SFAC to procure 10,000 MT and 2,000 MT onions respectively from producing areas including Delhi and supply it to consuming areas to enhance its availability and to help moderate prices.

 

Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot Visits ‘Shilpotsav -2017’

Shri Thawarchand Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment visited the “Shilpostav- 2017” to encourage the artisans at Dilli Haat in New Delhi.  Shilpostav- 2017 is the annual fair of artisans from across the country, belonging to the weaker sections of the society, which began on 1st November and will continue till 15th November 2017.

The progress of any section of the society depends a lot on financial independence of the section. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is working towards empowering marginalized and disadvantaged artisans.

There are 118 stalls of the Ministry Social Justice and Empowerment, where in artisans assisted by the Apex corporations i.e. National Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation (NBCFDC), National Scheduled Caste Finance & Development Corporation (NSFDC), National Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation (NHFDC), National Safai Karamchari Finance & Development Corporation (NSKFDC) and National Trust are displaying and selling their products.

The range of products in this fair include – silk sarees, durries, readymade garments, terracotta product, jute products, dress material, Kashmiri shawls/stoles, leather, cane & bamboo products, hand embroidery, bead products, pearls, imitation jewellery, lakh products, decorative candles, wood carving, block printing, wooden toys, tie & dye, wood, marble artefacts, handloom etc.
